3D appearance and image credits
Catalog coordinates and radii set position and scale. Surface maps are static observations or representative composites. Rotation phases, unmapped surfaces and deep-sky interiors are illustrative. This view does not reproduce naked-eye brightness or live weather.
- Jupiter: Hubble global map (2019) — NASA, ESA, A. Simon (GSFC), M. H. Wong (UC Berkeley). Unobserved polar caps use representative color.
- Moon: NASA CGI Moon Kit — NASA Scientific Visualization Studio, LROC and LOLA. Elevation preview provides illustrative shading relief.
- Earth, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune: Solar System Scope / INOVE — CC BY 4.0. NASA-based imagery, adjusted colors and filled gaps. Unmodified source maps, projected and lit in 3D; Earth uses a separate static cloud composite.
- Major moons: JPL Solar System Simulator maps — NASA/JPL/Caltech/USGS and David Seal. Processed Viking, Voyager and Galileo mosaics with incomplete coverage.
Saturn's rings, unknown surfaces, stars and guided deep-sky gas/dust structures use illustrative materials and shapes. M87's catalog aliases share the same appearance. 3C 273 and 3C 279 also use schematic dimensions. Textures cannot supply detailed terrain during an extreme close approach.
